So those of us who work within the sector have to ensure that we do our best to ensure that the sector continues to thrive. “I urge you as persons in the forefront of providing service to the visitors that we have to work very hard to raise our ratings and ensure that we continue to provide excellent service”, she said.Mrs. Bellot noted that the Ministry of Tourism and Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) places great emphasis on ensuring that all tourism stakeholders are provided with the opportunity to upgrade their skills and to remain current in their areas of service within the sector. She identified a misconception that if the service provider thinks that the standard of service they offer is good enough, then it is good enough for the client. In dispelling that notion, however, Mrs. Bellot said “excellent service is always about meeting and surpassing the needs and expectations of the customer”. While a provider may think that he/she has done an excellent job, in fact, “you have left your customer feeling dissatisfied”.She therefore advised the service providers to realize that the impression they give to the visitor is what he/she will take back with them when they leave. “I therefore implore you to ensure that you give the best impression of Dominica,” she noted. The refresher courses were organized by the DDA in collaboration with the Dominica State College (DSC).Dominica Vibes News Share LocalNews Tourism service providers told to safeguard sector by: – February 28, 2013last_img read more
